Bobby Troup (1918-1999) was an American musician, composer, actor and television presenter. He is best known for writing the famous song “Route 66”, which has become an anthem for travellers on the famous American road.
Troup began his musical career in the 1940s, writing songs for artists such as Nat King Cole and Billie Holiday. He also recorded several albums as a singer and pianist. In addition to his musical career, Troup also worked as an actor, appearing in several films and television series, including “Emergency!” and “The Bob Cummings Show”.
He also hosted his own music talk show called “Stars of Jazz” in the 1950s. Throughout his career, Troup was a beloved and respected figure in the entertainment industry, and his contribution to music continues to be celebrated.
