Eddy Shaw, whose real name was Thomas Edward Shaw, was born on 20 November 1941 in Washington D.C., USA. An American guitarist, singer and songwriter, he is best known for his contribution to the 1960s rock band the Monks.
Eddy Shaw was one of the former American soldiers based in Germany who formed this forward-thinking band, which blended garage rock and proto-punk. The Monks stood out for their atypical appearance (shaved heads in tonsure) and their innovative sound.
