Gene Cornish, born on 14 May 1944 in Ottawa, Canada, is an American guitarist and harmonica player best known for his pivotal role in The Young Rascals.
His rhythm guitar was a major component of the band’s distinctive sound, which fused rock, soul and pop. Cornish contributed to some of the Rascals’ biggest hits, including “Good Lovin'” and “Groovin'”.
After the Rascals disbanded, Cornish played in various bands and worked as a session musician. Despite a more low-key solo career, his influence as a member of the Rascals lives on. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 with The Rascals.
