Buck Owens (1929-2006) was an American country music singer, songwriter and guitarist.
He is considered one of the pioneers of the “Bakersfield Sound”, a subgenre of country music that originated in Bakersfield, California in the 1950s and 1960s. Owens began his musical career in the 1950s playing in local country bands and eventually signed with Capitol Records in 1957.
He enjoyed significant commercial success in the 1960s with songs such as “Act Naturally” and “Together Again”. Owens also hosted a popular television show called “Hee Haw” for over 20 years.
