Larry Clark, born April 28, 1944 in Ormond Beach, Florida, United States, is an American musician known as a member of the 1960s avant-garde band the Monks.
The Monks were made up of former American soldiers stationed in Germany and were noted for their unusual look (shaved heads in tonsure) and their innovative blend of garage rock and proto-punk. As a member of the band, Larry Clark played mainly the electric organ, adding a unique, psychedelic sound texture to the Monks’ music.
Their cult album, “Black Monk Time” (1966), influenced countless artists and became a classic of the genre. Although the Monks’ career was brief, Larry Clark and his bandmates left a lasting legacy in rock history.
